Bahrain's largest mosque, built in 1987 in Manama, capable of accommodating over 7,000 worshippers and notable for its massive fibreglass dome — one of the largest in the world — and its interior of carved marble and teak.

A 5.412-kilometre motorsport venue opened in 2004 in the Sakhir desert, home to the Formula One Bahrain Grand Prix and one of the most technically demanding circuits on the F1 calendar, set in a dramatic purpose-built desert motorsport complex.

The oldest national museum in the Persian Gulf, opened in 1988 on the Manama corniche, with a 27,800-square-metre complex housing archaeological collections, natural history exhibits, and a celebrated hall of traditional pearl diving and crafts.

A 240-metre, 50-floor twin-tower complex completed in Manama in 2008, and the first skyscraper in the world to have wind turbines integrated into its structural design, with three 45-metre turbines generating up to 15% of the building's total energy needs.

A stratified archaeological mound and UNESCO World Heritage Site on Bahrain's northern coast, where layers of Dilmun, Kassite, Greek, Persian and Portuguese civilisations are packed into a 12-metre hilltop mound dating from 2300 BC.

A solitary Prosopis juliflora tree over 400 years old standing alone on a barren hill in Bahrain's southern desert, approximately 6 kilometres from Jebel Dukhan and 40 kilometres from Manama, unexplained by any known water source and a protected natural monument.
