A small medieval mining town in a volcanic caldera, famous for silver mining from the 13th to 18th centuries and preserved today as a UNESCO World Heritage site with Renaissance and Baroque architecture.

A dramatic river gorge on the Slovakia-Poland border, carved by the Dunajec River through the Pieniny mountains, known for wooden flat-bottomed boats navigated by tradition for over a century and the ruined Carthusian monastery of Červený Kláštor above the water.

The ruins of one of Central Europe largest castle complexes, begun in the 12th century on a travertine hill above the historic Spiš region, UNESCO-listed in 1993 together with the adjacent villages of Spišská Kapitula and Žehra.
