A spectacular mountain range at the northwestern extremity of the Pamir-Alay system in Tajikistan, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013 as part of Tajik National Park, famous for glacial peaks, alpine lakes and accessible trekking valleys.

A massive sun-baked brick fortified palace compound on a hillock west of Dushanbe, rebuilt after civil war damage, serving as the summer residence of the emirs of Bukhara from the eighteenth to the twentieth century.

A fourth-millennium BCE archaeological settlement mound on the Zeravshan River in northwestern Tajikistan, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2010 as one of the earliest examples of settled life and metallurgy in Central Asia.
