Gaborone

Gaborone is Botswana's capital and largest city, built on the edge of the southeastern hardveld ridge where the Kgale and Omko hills create a distinctive backdrop to the city's low-rise spread across the valley floor. The city has grown rapidly since independence in 1966 but retains a spacious well-planned character with broad tree-lined avenues, relatively light traffic compared to other African capitals, and a distinctive mix of modern glass towers alongside traditional compounds and shopping centres.
